On "Han-ka"

“Cha-bana” refers to flowers set out in the tea gathering. It does not merely mean flowers; it becomes rather philosophy that people present at the tea gathering room can share and enjoy when they discover the meaning behind. Tea is somewhat way of uniting them.

Element flowing through commonly between cha-bana and tea is water. Through water, the two becomes one. Just as pairing two makes a whole, if one is missing, it would feel as if they are halved.

Both names of the inn “Kamohan” and the tea room “Ikehan” contain the element “ han”, signifying “half”.

The theme for this ceremony is the appearance of flowers that reflects the sincere belief that one is consisted of honesty for itself and other embraced within its heart. I named this ceremony “Han-ka”(half flower).
