Live Performance: Hogaku 2.0

Yukihiro Atsumi developed “Hogaku 2.0”, a project to celebrate and convey to the world the charm and history of traditional Japanese music’s more than 1300-year-old history through a new approach via guitar. Consequently, born out of Hogaku 2.0, Atsumi developed a new guitar music style called “Japanese Guitar”. As part of the revolutionary Hogaku 2.0 project, Atsumi will host a concert at Kōmyō-in Zen Temple’s Hashintei Garden.

Please enjoy the autumn breeze as Atsumi weaves together the delicate sounds of koto, Tsugaru shamisen, shakuhachi flute, and guitar made out of Jindai-boku (ancient wood buried underground for more than 800 years) to present an array of Japanese classical music, folk song arrangements, as well as new compositions utilizing a variety of traditional Japanese musical structures.
