In this collaboration, Miyanaga Aiko and Mori Junichi’s works from Mizuma Art Gallery, and Dawn Ng’s work from Sullivan+Strumpf will be exhibited.

Miyanaga Aiko continues to express the “ever-changing yet enduring world” through objects sculpted with naphthalene, installations utilizing salt, leaf veins, and the resonance of ceramics’ perforating sounds. This year’s presentation will feature a series of glass works that Miyanaga has been working on for the past several years.

Singaporean artist Dawn Ng has also created works based on the theme of “time,” including paintings, videos, and installations. The “Into Air” series presented in this exhibition is a moving body of work, which breathes color, materiality, and longing into the temporality of time.

Mori Junichi, who has engaged in various forms of expression such as sculptures made of marble and wood, ceramics, paintings, and photographs, will exhibit works centered around the theme of the atomic bombing in his hometown of Nagasaki. This time, he attempts to transform the Mary statue that was destroyed in the aftermath of the bombing while housed in the Urakami Cathedral, into an artwork.

Witness the resonance of the two artists who have both embraced the concept of “time,” as well as the overlapping moments of an artist who confronts the past and weaves new creations.

Matching the rapid expansion of Asia’s contemporary art market, Mizuma Art Gallery opened additional spaces in Beijing and in Singapore’s Gillman Barracks in 2008 and 2012 respectively. In 2014 the artist residency space “Rumah Kijang Mizuma” opened in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, to support exchanges between local and Japanese artists. Since 2018, also operate a collaborative gallery, “Mizuma&Kips”, in New York City.
The gallery participates actively in international art fairs including Art Basel Hong Kong and the Armory Show, and continues to support and promote a large number of internationally active artists.

Founded in 2005, Sullivan+Strumpf is one of Asia-Pacific’s leading contemporary art galleries, representing engaging and culturally relevant artists from the region.
